It’s quite easy for the majority of us to get caught up on all the things going ‘wrong’ in our life or things that we wish we had but didn’t. In a world filled with Instagram Highlight Reels its understandable that we can often feel like our life is pretty boring, unfulfilling and leaves us searching for something more. The truth is, there isn’t anything wrong with wanting more for yourself, or chasing growth whether that be in our career, relationships or personal life. In fact, we all SHOULD be doing that. However, what we SHOULDN’T be doing is comparing OUR reality to what others like to portray online as THEIR reality. Because the truth is, quite often than not, it’s far from it.

When it comes to living with a positive mindset, there isn’t just one simple trick, instead it’s about living a life that supports and encourage this to happen naturally. One of the biggest influences on living with a positive mindset is looking at situations or ‘hickups’ in our life as something that happens FOR us not TO us. Everything we experience and go through in life is an opportunity for growth and learning. We need to be able to look at situations and ask what can I learn from this? What is my teaching? There is a reason why things happen over and over again, and unless you learn the lesson from it, the universe will continue presenting the situation to you.

Waking up and starting your day right is crucial to kicking off your day with a positive mindset. I personally find that I feel the best when I wake up, write down my 3 gratitude’s for the day, do exercise of some description, eat breakfast and schedule out my day BEFORE looking at any technological devices (ie; phones, tablets, tv’s). Waking up and seeing images of people living extravagant lifestyles, promoting hair growth gummy bears, the latest weight loss tricks, or being paid to travel the world for free because they have 4million followers is not going to put us in the best frame of mind. Instead, starting out your day with your focus being on things solely related to you as opposed to all of this other mindless rubbish, is allowing you to have feelings of abundance and appreciation rather than envy and comparison.

They say the 5 people we surround ourselves with most are they 5 people we become, and this couldn’t be more true. When you base your friendship circle around people who are negative, small minded, judgemental, and unmotivated you will quickly find yourself falling into their similar patterns and behaviours. Instead imagine how much better you would feel if your closest friends were positive, authentic, inspiring, motivated, selfless and like minded to your true authentic self? It makes the world of difference so make sure you choose wisely!

One of the greatest and most fulfilling things you can do in your life is to give to others. I’m not saying you need to be the new Mother Theresa, or Ghandi but just by doing small random acts of kindness it truly will make yours (not to mention the other persons) day that much better. Even a simple smile, paying a compliment to someone, or shouting a coffee to the person behind you will make those ‘feel good feels’ skyrocket. Or if you really want to step up your contribution game, do a bit of research online and find a charity or organisation which you think you would enjoy volunteering at and send them a message offering your time. Even an hour or 2 once every few weeks or months makes such a difference to others and to also to you.

Being positive all the time isn’t always easy, especially when we are faced with challenging situations, however trying to do these few simple tips will truly make a world of difference. However as important as it is to try always be positive, its ok to sometimes to not feel that way at all. The trick  however, is to not get stuck in that state. Acknowledge it, accept it, move on from it and most importantly-  always learn from it.
